Large machinery entering! Will the construction of the Dechong Funan Canal accelerate?
On July 3rd, Cambodian Deputy Prime Minister and Vice Chairman of the Cambodian Development Council, Sun Zhantuo, led officials from multiple departments to conduct on-site inspections of the construction preparation work along the Dechong Funan Canal project.
Sun Zhantuo stated that it is expected that a large number of heavy machinery will officially enter during the upcoming dry season (November or December this year), and the project will fully enter the substantive construction stage.
Sun Zhantuo pointed out that the government has established a clear implementation mechanism and will ensure precise implementation in all aspects. At present, the Dechong Funan Canal project is steadily progressing according to the government's established schedule without any delays. It is expected that the project will be completed as scheduled in 2028.
The Dechong Funan Canal is a key national infrastructure project promoted by the Cambodian government, aimed at connecting the Mekong River with the southern waters and building an efficient logistics channel for inland and maritime transportation. The total investment of the project is about 1.7 billion US dollars, and it will be implemented by China Road and Bridge Corporation. It will officially start on August 5, 2024, with a planned construction period of 48 months.
Once completed, this project will significantly improve the efficiency of water transportation in Cambodia, alleviate domestic port pressure, enhance the circulation capacity of national strategic materials, and have a profound impact on regional economic development.
